Oskar Roehler's drama Der Alte Affe Angst (Angst) is about the dissolution of a couple. Robert (Andre Hennicke) and Marie (Marie Baumer) have little in common other than their sex life. Since Robert is going through a bout with impotency, they are having a very rocky time. Robert learns that his father, whom he is estranged from, has died. This disturbs Robert so much that he visits a prostitute, and is able to engage in sex with her. Marie discovers the infidelity, and the prostitute has a surprise of her own. Angst was screened at the 2003 Berlin Film Festival.

Three years prior to Pina's death, she and Tanztheater Wuppertal are trying to trace the phenomenon of their global success. Much of this documentary portrays the revolutionary methods of the greatest German choreographer Pina Bausch: no script, no libretto, no pattern. Everything you see on stage was created in improvisation during rehearsals, during which Pina set no rules, she only asked questions. Every dancer could point the piece in any direction. This is why the film doesn't show only the fragments of finished works, but also images of rehearsals and interviews with the choreographer and her co-travellers.

This near wordless documentary from Hüseyin Karabey provides unprecedented access into the creative process of one of modern dance's most compelling minds. A Breath with Pina Bausch was inspired by the city of Istanbul, the cosmopolitan centre that the Byzantine, Roman and the Ottoman Empires all called home. While pairs of performers dance seemingly improvised sketches, Bausch writes in her notebooks and smokes. Interspersed with the rehearsal scenes is the actual stage work, a performance full of stunningly poetic images that are only possible in dance. The film is a fitting tribute to the twin worlds of rehearsing and performing that make up the lives of dancers and choreographers.

Medical doctor Dr. Sophie Heimbach is asked by her former mentor Dr. Ursula Stein to fly to an earthquake zone in Indonesia for the aid organization Mediziner ohne Grenzen to investigate the team leader there, the talented surgeon Dr. Kreusler.
